Makalidurga is a place located in Doddaballapura taluk in Karnataka, nealy 60km from Bangalore city.

This was a sudden planned trip, planed one day before the trip. Well, we thought of having Bike ride to Makaliduraga, we later decided to go by train, of course to have more fun!.
Yes, there is a Train route to Makaliduraga. The train starts from Bangalore Cantonment at around 7:40 AM in the morning. We catched our train at Byiapanahlli railway station, as most of us had near connectivity to Byapanhalli.

We reached Makalidurga railway station at 10:00 AM. After alighting from the train we started our trekking along the railway track. Its about 3km from the Railway station to reach the base of the Hill. So we started to walk along the railway track to reach the base of the Hill.

After reaching the base of Makalidurga hill, we started following the sign marks painted on rocks to reach the peak.

As we were heading to hill top, we came across entrance to Fort.

We reached hill top at around 12:00 PM. We then clicked few beautiful photos of surroundings around the Hill.

As the return train to Bangalore was scheduled at 2:30PM, we then hurried up to descend from the hill. After having some rest we started to descend from the top.  It just took only 1 hour to descend from the hill.

We reached the railway station at around 2PM. But the train arrival time was delayed by1 hour. We started searching for hotel near the railway station. Unfortunately we couldn't find anything nearby. We then drank fresh coconut water from a nearby shop. We then saw frequent buses which were going to Bangalore. As most of us were exhausted, some of our friends decided to go home by bus. Me and Shashi planned to go to Ghati subramanya temple which is located approximately 3KM from the place. Even after waiting for 30 mins, we couldn't find any local transport to go the temple. We then canceled our plan to visit the temple. Then we headed to railway station again to catch our Train. Believe me or not, train again got delayed and finally reached the station at 4:45 PM ( delayed by 2hrs). Finally we reached Bangalore at 6:30 PM.

I feel this is one of the good place to have one day out for trekking....
